Blue, Clydesdale filly, 2.5. ADOPTED. Blue will go at 5yrs old after being trained, has a job in the
National Park in Philadelphia.
Blue is growing up at Blue Star with her sister Star and Maize. They have a whole adopted family of horses and humans that look after them and help guide them as they grow into what we will know will be extraordinary “working horses” who help to share the Clydesdale story with humanity.
Blue and Star and Maize all came from Canada, bred for sale as meat in Japan. The girls were surplus to a contract and bought as weanlings for their market price. We are raising them as ambassadors to help share the story of the Clydesdales contribution in history and their current plight as another very endangered draft breed. There are currently only 4000 Clydesdales with 500 viable mares for breeding. Blue and Star have been adopted (from the beginning of their time with us) and will go to work and live at National Park in Philadelphia by 76 Carriage Co. While there, the girls will continue to share their stories while giving tours around one of the most historic places in America. They will go after about 5yrs, trained with the help of the retired carriage and other workhorses who also call Blue Star home. Once they go to their job they will spend their vacations and later retire back here at Blue Star, the only home they have ever known.
